countdowns and pumpkin tops

today takes us to 8. 8 more days until november 6th. 8 days until i am getting married! it is crazy. i can't believe how quickly it has come. i have clients, friends, neighbors, and relatives alike that all continue to ask me if i'm "getting nervous." but the honest to goodness truth is that the closer it gets, the calmer i am or something. in reality, i'm probably suffering a nervous breakdown, i just don't know it. maybe the fact that i'm not freaking out is actually a symptom of a breakdown. who knew? but i feel good and overall, i'm more stressed about waking up with a zit that day than anything else (my dad says that stressing about having a zit will only give me one). the only other concern is that i've been keeping my fingers crossed that all these beautiful leaves that have finally found their way to the valley will hold onto those branches for dear life for another week or so (see pic jeff and i took up the canyon late september).

yesterday at work, jeff surprised me with some pretty daisies. all the girls kept whining "awww" and saying "oh how cute...i wish i had a boy to give me flowers..." (as if they were hinting to jeff to bring them the flowers next time?? sorry ladies.) he is just so sweet to me and knows how to make crappy days better. silly boy. but i sure do love him and i can't believe we're getting married so soon!

tonight we went to jeff's friend ryan's cabin/house up hobble creek canyon and carved pumpkins with some people. mine was a spiderweb and jeff's looked like a transformer though that was definitely not what he was aiming for, even with the help of the stencil he used (i think his was supposed to be a vampire's face?? pics to come). he also decided to cut his pumpkin top straight down like a cork - once we lit the candles and his lid fell straight through and put out his candle, he realized his mistake. i guess he didn't remember to cut the top at an angle or to leave the edge uneven rather than make it smooth. he has a good sense of humor and laughed at himself, so i can poke fun at him and his pumpkin carving skills. love you jeff!
