so a couple of days ago a coworker asked me where i like to go running. we both enjoy running outdoors and love to exercise, so this type of conversation is typical. she told me she was thinking of starting a 12-week training schedule for a half-marathon that is 13 weeks from this saturday. it's a 13.1 mile run that starts at the top of provo canyon and ends at the riverwoods in provo. i thought it sounded cool and i told her "good for you, i've always thought that would be awesome to do one.". she told me i should train too, and that way we could both say we had done it and we'd have a support system with each other. i guess a demon took over my body when i said "okay, that sounds good!" because it sure wasn't me...
ever since i started running a few years ago, i've always thought it would be really neat to do a half -marathon or something like it. i've done 5k's a couple of times, but nothing like this. i guess i've always liked the idea of how it might feel finishing a race, all of my training and hard work paying off... but i've never done anything about it, just a lot of wishful thinking. so apparently i committed myself without thinking it through very much, but i am going to try very hard to stick to the schedule and accomplish one of my goals! i am really nervous and i know that all the training is going to be tough mentally and physically (my poor knee), but i have my friend, my husband, and my mom all asking me about it and making sure i'm sticking to it. 3 days down and 12 1/2 weeks left to go...
