our new pet.
wow i never blog. but i guess it just shows that i don't care. just a little bitty of an update:
jeff and i got a new pet!! we are so glad our landlord let us keep him. he is SO big and people are always gawking at how big he is and how adorable and cuddly he is. he's pretty good, still not potty-trained, but we're working on it (slowly...very slowly...). right now we have been teaching him to "sit" and letting him play with chew toys. he doesn't cause too much trouble, and only howls when he's hungry or lonely. we only have to feed him a few times a day, and he sleeps in our closet at night. he's perfect!

my priorities...
...are obviously elsewhere. yes, i miraculously did have our baby, when i was sure he'd wait until april (and sometimes i was convinced it'd be july) to come. he is pretty much perfect and one handsome little bugger. it's true that i'm biased (as all moms are), but you will soon find yourself in agreement that he is a perfect ten. his name is cohen jeffory allan and he was born on tuesday, february 8, 2011 at 2:29 a.m. he weighed 8 lb 6 oz and was 21 inches. now he is 7 weeks old and better than ever. i'll get around to the classic birth story blog-post soon. until then, i'm too busy loving on baby c to care about blogging.

cry baby.
hi baby.
when i got home from work today, i turned on TLC because it was time to watch "a baby story." i never watched it until i was pregnant with you, and i like to watch only the last ten minutes, when the babies are born. i like to see how happy all the parents are when their little loveys join their family. well today the little girl on the show was born and i cried. why did i cry? she is not my baby. it made me want to see you so bad. your mom is a huge cry baby.
then this commercial for pampers diapers came on and the narrator was talking about how "becoming a mom will change your world" and these new little tiny babies were sleeping in their mommy's arms and some babies were smiling up at their parents all googley-eyed. guess what? i started crying harder. and the commercial was only like 45 seconds or a minute long. what is my deal?
to torture myself even more, there is this online forum for moms due in february 2011. i get online and follow it sometimes; i like to read what other people who are at the same point as us in pregnancy are going through and compare their silly symptoms to ours and read stories. apparently a lot of the moms on the forum have already had their babies. i looked at the post one mom had done with a picture of her new little boy. i cried again.
i think this means you just need to come. maybe it's just that i'm super hormonal. it's like a happy, love cry but also a cry like my heart is breaking, because i feel like i already know you and that my heart misses you so much and it needs to be with you. okay i'm going to cry again. i know you are actually already with me (all the time, too!) but i love you and if you really take up the whole 3 weeks we have left, i might die of a broken heart because i need to see you. so please come sooner than that. as long as you are healthy, of course. but if you need 3 more weeks to be healthy, then take your time (i never thought i'd say that). just come so i will stop crying!
xoxo

top ten of twenty-ten
the allan family top 10 of twenty-ten
we are glad we are still around and have lived to see another year! 2010 was happy, sad, hard, and exciting. but here we are and here's to 2011!
in 2010 (in no particular order)...
10. we had family pictures taken. our first "pictures" since our wedding! this makes the top 10 because we both hate pictures and being in front of the camera...

9. i know i said "in no particular order," but i'm kind of upset that i made this pic #9...we found out in may that we are going to be parents! our baby boy is due in 4 more weeks and we couldn't be happier (and more nervous)!

8. after all this time, i finally trained and ran and FINISHED my first half-marathon! don't forget that my knee gave out half-way in (leaving me crippled and in a brace for a month) and i threw up 7 times in the couple hours following the race (and for two days after), but hey, it feels good to say i finally did it!
7. we went to the cabin for the demolition derby and pioneer day parade in fairview! this is my favorite thing about summer. my pregnant-self fly-fished with dad and jeff, and i'm proud to say i am the only one who caught a fish.

6. my younger brother griffin left on his mission in june. i am so mad at him for leaving me for ecuador, but i guess i'll be okay. he is such a good missionary!
5. oh, but don't even worry that i saw my favorite tweenage band for the SECOND time in concert this summer (that made it like my 30th concert). that's right, backstreet's back, and i squealed like a teenie-bopper piggy the whole time. i still love you, brian.
4. my grandpa went off chemo and started to get his strength, weight, and even some of his hair back! he is my favorite person and it was really emotionally distressing to see him sick and take turns with him in the rehab center to keep him company. i'm so glad he made it another year, when we were sure he wouldn't.

1. we managed to make it to our 2-year wedding anniversary. can you believe it? and we still kind of like each other!
